Aug 14, 2018 – This Feels Personal

Premarket Insight

Logging into my platform for the first time today at 08:00 EST, so far volume looks good across the board. Price action of NQ and CL pretty strong, bullish so far. NQ looks to be entering some retracement at this point.

Today’s action could be pivotal, watching yesterday’s low. Could be similar to what happened back in February and March. That volatility would bring in great, much needed, profit potential. And I feel ready more than ever.

Nothing significant on the calendar today.

COB Recap

I know it’s not, but starting to feel like CL got something personal against me. Managed to get me to my three-strike rule right before making the move in the direction I was playing it. And this time I played it perfectly, just kept getting stopped out in a channel. Needless to say, I’m beyond frustrated.

Did better with NQ but took a loss on the last trade as well giving me just $10 profit on the day from being up more than $100. What a day!!!

Tomorrow I will be trading only NQ, mainly due to my low account balance at this point. It’s imperative that I remember to stay consistent tomorrow.

Aug 13, 2018 – Surprise, Surprise

Premarket Insight

New journal format, no longer doing the “At the bell” notes. This should help me focus by removing possible anxiety which leads to a FOMO play, either in the moment or later down the road because I missed something good in the first few minutes of the open. If I see something worth noting at that time, it will go in the COB Recap.

Spent most of the weekend just clearing my mind and emotions from the struggles of last week. Only reviewed some charts and my strategy a little just to verify some things.

So far today, market getting off to a strong start as has been the case for the past few weeks with good volume and volatility for the premarket. As usual, in the news more “trade wars” and the last bit of earnings to look out for. Hopefully we get some good volatility this week, however I feel fully prepared for whatever happens.

My main goal this week is to be consistent and disciplined with my strategy. Looking for the best entries and exits to give me the best opportunities by the design of my strategy. As far as the crippling fear, I have to keep in mind that it will take 10 full risk unit losses in a row to blow out my account, so I have absolutely nothing to worry about with how unlikely that is to happen.

COB Recap

Well, NQ was much better than every day last week. Actually, much better than I was expecting which resulted in me missing an entry that would have hit target. It’s all good because I later got in for half of the profit.

Now for my enemy CL (LOL). It took all of that above stated profit plus some before deciding to drop on a move that I never had a strategy-based entry. Needless to say, I’m beyond pissed with CL today. But have to remember that moves like this are rare and stick to my strategy which is better for the norm. I will get my revenge!!! Bwahahahahaaaa!

I didn’t lose much today so it’s all good. Stay consistent and disciplined all week. ?

Aug 8, 2018 – Minimum Success

Premarket Insight

Apparently, the U.S.-China “trade war” has people scared to trade this morning as market volume (NQ at 19k as of 07:30 EST) is extremely low, with not much going on so far looking at the Nasdaq Futures 5-minute chart. This low volume is present in other areas of the market as well (gold, crude oil, and Euro forex).

On the calendar today, Crude Oil Inventories at 10:30 EST.

At the Bell

Not long after I wrote the premarket insight a ton of selling started in the markets around 07:45 EST and volume picked up a bit. There was a lot of selling in other areas of the market as well. CL already down more than 1.34% (94 ticks). With that type of selloff in the premarket, may just be sticking to NQ today.

From a technical analysis point, the NQ selloff on the daily chart makes sense as it ran into strong resistance.

COB Recap

So, I clearly misread the sentiment on CL today. It continued to drop and gave a ton of opportunities that I missed out on. Could have given me a really strong green day. Really frustrating how I keep letting this fear get the best of me. I took one play in CL that was a loser do to wrong timing.

Still green though thanks to NQ. Caught the one good move in the morning session and pretty much ended my day there. Would have been really nice to get all that profit from CL, but I can’t complain too much finally having a green day again.
