Jul 25, 2018 – Needs Improvement

Premarket Insight

Getting started a bit late today with workout and tending to other business, but it’s ok because I was planning on going live trading at the bell.

So far, NQ and CL (my playlist for today) price action is a bit choppy but directional. Light volume for NQ today, relative to recent days as of 08:30 EST. However, with US-EU trade talks and earnings from Facebook, Boeing and plenty of others, there is plenty of reason for the markets to move significantly today.

On the calendar, New Home Sales at 10:00 EST.

At the Bell

After digging deeper into the news and seeing disappointing results from premarket earnings reports, markets may be a bit stale on this light volume until the FB report after the close. Approaching the bell, NQ is trading in about a 20-point range.

COB Recap

Sigh… The cold streak continues with another round of choppiness. Some poor executions and missed opportunities resulted in another day in the red down $300.  Completely got thrown off my game with all the up/down action. Will be another afternoon session of getting in practice shots for me. #NextTime

I may play the Facebook earnings report after the close. Results will be posted in tomorrows journal entry if that happens.

Jul 24, 2018 – Scrimmage

Premarket Insight

Did a bit of in-depth studying last night with some replay back trading. Feeling good about my plan and strategy for today.

Again, CL got off to an early start, this time bullish, jumping more than 66 ticks (0.45%) as of 07:25 EST. NQ currently just trading sideways after the big push bullish from GOOGL’s earnings report “smashing” expectations after yesterday’s closing bell. Good chance that push continues today, in my opinion.

Nothing interesting on the calendar today. However, a slew of earnings from HOG, VZ, LMT, MMM, UTX, and BIIB, to be released before the bell, should be more than enough to give some life to the market.

At the Bell

Didn’t take any live trades premarket but I did successfully exercise what I studied and practiced yesterday through paper trading. NQ started a bullish run in the premarket beginning after 08:00 EST but didn’t do much in the first five minutes after the bell. Looking over-bought based on the $TICK. And as soon as I typed that it took off strong bullish (LOL). Guess the $TICK just meant more buyers were coming in. I will be looking for some pullback for entry as I already missed where I would have preferred to enter due to time based rules.

COB Recap

Was a little too impatient on my first play which was the play that put the red in my day. Other than that, the improvements made to my execution really helped and I did much better than the past few days on this cold streak. Missed one on CL and NQ, in which the NQ was simply due to me having to step away from the computer for a second. Time will take care of what happened with CL as I continue to improve my skills. Overall satisfied with the day. The focus is on perfecting the execution, not the P/L column which will be taken care of with perfect execution and discipline.

Jul 23, 2018 – Chopped to Submission

Premarket Insight

Monday, Monday, Monday! CL made a strong move early in the Euro market hours moving more than 80 ticks. I’m sure based off crude oil news over the weekend.

Should be another eventful week with more trade war news, Trump tweets, and more major earnings. This week’s earnings include Google, Facebook, and Amazon which should have significant impact on the Nasdaq. (fingers crossed)

On the calendar today, Existing Home Sales at 10:00 EST.

At the Bell

Only took one play on CL getting stopped out on a potential reverse of the premarket bull run. It was a long shot but met all the requirements of my strategy so had to take it for trigger fear prevention.

Volume looking decent but not much has happened with NQ as of yet. I missed a play on GC in the premarket but did take a successful paper trade on the continuation of that move. Good practice for the morning session of the open.

COB Recap

Calling it early again today, accepting the defeat with all the chop. Out of 6 trades only caught 2 winners, one both pretty much scalps but nowhere enough to get me off to a green start for the week. I may be down but I’m definitely not out. Good thing is I didn’t make any mistakes and had good patience. Just not the day for my strategy. Down but never out.
