Jul 23, 2018 – Chopped to Submission

Premarket Insight

Monday, Monday, Monday! CL made a strong move early in the Euro market hours moving more than 80 ticks. I’m sure based off crude oil news over the weekend.

Should be another eventful week with more trade war news, Trump tweets, and more major earnings. This week’s earnings include Google, Facebook, and Amazon which should have significant impact on the Nasdaq. (fingers crossed)

On the calendar today, Existing Home Sales at 10:00 EST.

At the Bell

Only took one play on CL getting stopped out on a potential reverse of the premarket bull run. It was a long shot but met all the requirements of my strategy so had to take it for trigger fear prevention.

Volume looking decent but not much has happened with NQ as of yet. I missed a play on GC in the premarket but did take a successful paper trade on the continuation of that move. Good practice for the morning session of the open.

COB Recap

Calling it early again today, accepting the defeat with all the chop. Out of 6 trades only caught 2 winners, one both pretty much scalps but nowhere enough to get me off to a green start for the week. I may be down but I’m definitely not out. Good thing is I didn’t make any mistakes and had good patience. Just not the day for my strategy. Down but never out.

Jul 16, 2018 – Scalp Master

Premarket Insight

Monday has returned for a week that should be jam packed with volatile action. Of course, there’s the continuation of trade wars, but the bigger highlight is the first big week of Q2 earnings week with market moves such as Bank of American (BAC), Netflix (NFLX) and Goldman Sachs, among many others, reporting this week.

Also, the Trump-Putin Summit today, Fed news on Tuesday, and China’s Q2 GDP are additional headlines that could give the market a strong push in either direction. As always, my motto is to be ready for anything.

CL got a strong start early, already down more than 70 ticks as of 07:00 EST. Even though CL got the strong start, volume across the board is pretty light.

On the calendar today, Retail Sales and Core Retail Sales at 08:30

At the Bell

Only got a small winner off CL on a continuation play after missing the first possible play that would have been a winner in the premarket. Then, out of my mind, took a play on CL right at the open at 09:30 EST that was an immediate loser. Don’t know what I was thinking about taking a play at the bell like that.

NQ mostly bouncing in the premarket and jumping long out of consolidation in the first 5 minutes of the open. Volume still weak, especially on NQ.

COB Recap

Completely off my game today. Missed all the would be target plays and only caught some scalps. Even a play around 11:30 EST that would have hit target and got me back in the green today. Took it in a paper trade with ease that quickly worked out.

Should have ended the day up more than $1,100 but best I can do at this point is take it as another learning lesson and do better next time. Having off days is just part of the game. Hoping the stars will be aligned in my favor tomorrow.

Jul 9, 2018 – Simple Beginning

Premarket Insight

Monday is here again and an exciting one for me. I was finally able to open an account with AMP Futures and today will be the first day I trade using Sierra Chart. I prefer this platform because it allows me to trade from the chart with some additional features for executing my strategy. Being overseas creates some challenges with setting up accounts with certain brokers, which is what took me so long to get this account with AMP. I will write an article about setting up an account for U.S. residents living abroad later.

Now, for the market, along with the continuation of the trade war drama and Fed news, this week kicks of Q2 earning season with some major banks (JPM, C, and WFC) reporting Friday. Nothing sticks out on the calendar today, but this should definitely be an exciting week.

We’ve already seen some significant action from CL (bearish) and NQ (bullish) before 06:00 EST on decent volume with it being so early. I’m all setup and ready to execute my trades with discipline and consistency.

At the Bell

Got off to a rough start, taking a loss followed by missing another one that would have been a winner on CL. CL and NQ mostly chopped around in the premarket after their early movement before 06:00 EST. So far for me it’s just been lesson learning. Now waiting for the next setup.

In the first five minutes, NQ continuing its bullish climb pretty strong.

COB Recap

Everything pretty much just bouncing around today. Missed one play that would have hit target on CL but was able to catch the below play on NQ after it retested the previous resistance. Ended the day kind of early after that play just taking a couple more paper trades and watching. Could have been better had I got the two plays I missed on CL but I’m starting the week and my first day in the new trading account in the green so I’m not complaining.
